Let there be light.

An introduction to automotive lighting fanatics.

Welcome new readers. If you are finding yourself here than you are most likely someone who has an enthusiasm for automotive lighting. Whether it be for the technical side of lighting, architecture design, performance or all of the above, I’d like to believe that we all share one thing in common – we want to see better and be seen better. Some of us appreciate the advancements in technology and its impact on safety and the driver experience. As this technology steadily marches forward we will soon see standard light sources such as incandescent and tungsten-halogen light bulbs eventually move way to more efficient LED light sources. And although this may still be some years away before LED is the primary light source for all vehicles, people are looking for LED solutions *now* for their standard bulb lamps. This is why Automotive LED Research was conceived.

Cutting through the thick fog of misinformation.

One of my goals here is to stop the spread of myths and misinformation regarding automotive lighting. Dispel beliefs on baseless info. Particularly LED replacement bulbs and peoples perception of what they *think* is better. We are going to do away with overexposed camera photos of beams on a garage wall and subjective impressions to evaluate lighting. Here we are going to take a more scientific approach. One that can offer a more clearer perspective on what it means to truly improve vehicle lighting.

I hope that the content that I provide on this site going forward will offer some form of value to you in one way or another. And while lighting in general is mostly technical, this doesn’t mean that we can’t enjoy ourselves and marvel at all the brilliant aspects that makeup what is automotive lighting.
