π¦ Public Notes β Plain Language Explanation
Device Tested: Baja Designs DOT LP6 Headlamp (x2)
Date Tested: March 28-29, 2026
Part Numbers: 18-0001 / 18-0002
Standard Referenced: FMVSS 108
β Low Beam β FAIL
β’ Too bright at a high upward angle, which increases light scatter in fog, rain, or snow.
β’ Excessively bright in the area aimed toward oncoming traffic, exceeding glare limits.
β’ Slightly too bright at an upper right angle, exceeding the limit intended to prevent excessive sign reflection.
β High Beam β FAIL
β’ Not bright enough at the center of the beam, resulting in reduced long-range visibility.
β Color Test β PASS
β’ Color measurements were within the white zone, producing a beam that meets the standard.
π What I Noticed During the Test
β’ The amber version (Sample B) changed shape slightly as it warmed up, and the hot spot dropped below the cutoff.
β’ I ran the test with the DRLs on because thatβs how people normally use these lights (including the manufacturer). Since the lamp isnβt configured to dim the DRLs, this setup adds extra glare.
